People change when they migrate to another country

I have realized that people change a lot when they migrate to another country. I feel that they change due to the country they migrate to. My girlfriend migrated to England 11 yrs ago and before she left she was nice, thoughtful and all and now I just totally hate her. Do people really change or are they pretending as not for you to ask them for nothing. What's your take on this?

i have seen something like that also happening here. some of those people i know have really changed a lot. some i feel like they look highly of themselves because they were able to migrate in another country, and so they expect something like people should look up on them. and they act like, they have everything and you are not supposed to mess up with them because they got the money and stuff .

At least you can relate to how I feel. Its definitely a terrible feeling and I hope when I plan to migrate I don't change.

I don't know exactly..My sister lives in Abu Dhabi with her family...while she returned from there she was fine except that she was little worried seeing the roads here and the unhygienic food in restaurants..This type of change is appreciable..but she loves to be hygienic and clean.. If you are talking about the change in character...I don't know..I have not witnessed anything like that so far.

I suppose it is ineveitable too. They have to adjust themselves to the new environment and the new way of life. That can be very very different from the cultures in the countries of origin. That's the way of life. I do also notice that they get together whenever they can and preserve they traditional ways as best they can.

I really agree with you. I have seen many friends changed after they migrate to other foreign countries. They won't change but thry are made to change according to the living there. They have no choice other than changing according to the new surroundings. Heard of a famous saying "Be a Roman when you are in Rome"... Cheers. Have a great day.

Thanks for responding, I didn't look at it from that point of view.
