How to get referrals?

Where do you promote your referral link? What has worked best for you in terms of getting referrals that actually take part and help develop the site?

i tried posting it on some other site but got banned. But what i try to do mostly is talk to freinds and family, and if they are interested then i go from there. if not i drop it. !

I don't really good on referrals and that why to date I onle have one referral under me:(

I have alot of trouble getting referrals. Seems people do not want to join for one reason or another. The 4 referrals that I do have, I emailed them and invited them to join.
