Is there any quick way to start?

Today I went to a pathology lab with my mother.There I saw a very beautiful girl.She was looking very sad.I wanted to talk to her so that I could come to know what is the problem with her.
Is there any way to start a conversation with somebody even if he/she is a boy or girl?
What should we say?

With true feeling and concern if you said, "you seem not to be enjoying your job?" would be one way to beak the ice. If the proper feelings of your concern get conveyed though your eyes, s/he will not only open up but come on in torrents!
