How to find a good deal on a television.

Me and 3 of my friends recently moved into a rental house for the school year. The living room has limited space, and we want to put a flatscreen TV on top of the mantle. The problem is we don't have one. I wanted to know if anyone could tell me of some good deals for a flatscreen TV. Any advice or knowledge of TV's would help as well. We are looking for something around 42" and preferably with HD capability, but that isn't set in stone. Thanks for your help!
