Dear Mylotters,
Have you ever wondered that smell and music which we felt in the past at a specific situation makes us to remember the same situation today?
I have experienced that. Some smells makes us to remember our loved ones, our childhood days, our friends.... Also music which we heard in a pleasant or unpleasant situation makes us to remember the same thing.
Have you ever felt this feel? Do let me know your thoughts on this... Cheers

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee reminds me of my grandma. She would get up at dawn, sing some hymns to herself and make coffee. These are things none of us can forget at home. I still remember, as a child, I would wait for her to start making coffee. Then she would come around waking all of us...

That reminds me a lot when I was small and mom and dad would get up and then in a bit you'd start smelling breakfast. I can still hear the outside door open and in no time my cat would be snuggled under the covers with me. All faded memories that still live inside us because they and the people were special. Now you have me all teary eyed, I'm a very sentimental person.

I sometimes hear old music which brings back memories. Regarding smells, I do not have much experience with remembering anything because of a smell.

I for some reason getting certain smells that keep reminding me of my parents who have both passed away, it's been good and bad . ( kinda freakin me out a bit actually). But a few days ago I found my mums old queen size blanket in a box that's been in the shed for about a year, and when I took it out I instantly felt overcome with warmth and memories of the last time I saw her : ( . So anyway I just thought I might share my little story. XENON

Yes indeed, smells and music does bring me back in time. The smells of Christmas, baked goods and aftershave, among others. Music that I listened to back in the 1970's pulls me back to memories of schools, dances and parties. It is a bit different if I anticipate it, catching me by surprise effects me more. It's just too bad that the time transition cannot be completed and we could really visit our past.
