How to build an external antenna for usb modem?

I need to boost signal strength of usb modem

Make a parabolic reflector out of stiff cardboard. Slot the USB dongle in to the focal point and you'll immediately notice a stronger and more solid signal. Only problem is that the reflector will restrict signal to a narrower path.
