yesteday in china a great thunder destroy a building

yesteday news,in chinese ,a great thunder destroy a four floor building.seventeen people died.ten of them is work in this building,they are construct the building when the thunder coming.seven of them are avoidance rain in this building at that time.
i can not think how great the thunder can destroy a building?do you think about it
