What is the most overrated movie you ever watched?

Mine is Michael Clayton. It received great praise from the critics, received a Best Picture nominee along Best Actor for George Clooney and gives Best Supporting Actress title to Tilda Swinton, but I found this movie extremely boring. I thought I will get an exciting espionage investigation about tobacco industry (is it tobacco industry? I forgot! ), instead what I get is slow plot and boring dialogues along the movie. I just don't get what's good of this movie, it really painful to watch. I watched the movie until it ends cause I keep hoping the best part is the end, it is anyway, but it's not great or anything. But one thing for sure, Tilda's acting here is really convincing as a cold lawyer who protects her client. So, what's your choice? Any movies you feel overrated?

Citizen Kane made me want to stab myself in the face. Perhaps it was one of the best movies for an older generation, but I was looking for every excuse to make the boredom end

For me it is "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Once you get past the twist that the main character lives life in reverse there is bugger all else of interest and seriously disappointing. Even the love story is not that great and you can predict what is going to happen long before the story ever reaches it. I will admit the make up and special effects are good but the movie certainly isn't. It was another case of too many people hyping up a movie because it was seen as the cool thing to do.

I totally agree with you. Furthermore, the character seems to live a perfectly normal life even with his "desease" that from a verisimilar point of view should have been like hell. The historical facts are not well merged with the plot but they are only a background and it really bored me :P

The middle part of the movie when he went to have a journey with the drunken sailor dated with Tilda Swinton is indeed a little bit slow, but after going back to his hometown to meet Cate Blanchett made it interesting again..I think people must watched it in the cinema, usually slow plot like this will make people sleepy when watching it at home

I have to agree with you about this movie Michael Clayton. I waited for the DVD and was excited about watching it because it had received great reviews and George Clooney was nominated for Best Actor. So I'm thinking oh this is going to be a really good one. Oh my God I was so surprised it was boring and hard to follow. I kept dosing off that is how boring it was. I was quite disappointed.

Ah yes jonjee, but that was already towards the end of the movie right? I remember the only fun part is from the scene and afterwards, which was about the last 15 minutes of the movie..And an hour 30 minutes before that scene, it's just completely boredom. But people had different tastes :)

I am agree with you, but HP 1 if I'm not mistaken only got general review of B from critics, so I cannot say it is overrated, it's right for the movie. Before I saw the movie, as an avid reader of HP books, I expect more the movie, but the pace is so slow, sometimes it is on borderline of boredom. Luckily, it's getting better on the third movie though, when Chris Colombus not helmed the movie anymore. Thanks for the response!
