The challenge of journaling

August 11, 2009 1:04am CST
I ask my student to make a leadership journal for their project this semester. I check their progress this week so that I can be sure they are starting on it these days and not cram during the submission. I was so disappointed to see that very few students are writing substantial information and ideas they are thinking and reflecting on in their lives. My students are still in their teens, I'm wondering are the young people of this days not interested in journaling anymore? I learned a lot in writing my own journals growing up. I have harness my English proficiency and the ability to express myself in this language. I also have learned to express what I feel and many times the processing also takes place while I'm writing. I believe it is very helpful. I pray that I can influence them to write more.
