I watched the movie "Peggy Sue Got Married" on youtube this weekend. I have seen this movie in the past two or three times and I think it's one of my favorites. For those of you who have never seen this movie, it's starring Kathleen Turner, Nicholas Cage, and Jim Carrey. It's about a girl who is going through a divorce. She passes out at her class reunion and she is transported back to the year 1962, the year she graduated high school. I thought this might make a good discussion topic. If you were to travel back in time, what period in history would you like to travel to? I think of two periods I would like to go back to. I would like to go back to my high school days. I would sure do things differently than I did back then. I made a lot of mistakes but nothing really major, like marrying too young, for example. At least, I would know what I know now, lol. That's what's so funny about movies like this. The main character always knows what's going to happen and is always wiser than she/he was in those days. I would also like to go back to the days of the old west. Mainly because I like to ride horseback so much. I'm fascinated with anything about the old west and how they lived in those days, anyway.

I too would go back to the 60's. I graduated in '66 and would change the things I did too. First I'd not get involved and get preganant and be forced to get married. But also those were good days before I screwed up ! I'd plan for college and be the veterinarian I wanted to be and not be married till I was maybe 40 :) or not even then ! As far as the old west goes and horses. WEll, let's say you didn't have running water? or electricity? just oil lamps and a wood burning stove and had to haul water from the river, and did not have a car to go to town. No job. YOu'd have to butcher your own meat if you had it. YOu'd have to have a root cellar to keep the veggies you grow yourself, make your own bread, etc. There's a lot to the old west you'd probably rather not have to deal with. I didn't live then, no, but have lived in the country without any of these things and would not go back to those ways. Horses:) wonderful animals. Join a riding club or go to someone's farm and ride. Besides horses are expensive to feed, take care of. They need vet care and daily grooming. Do you have time for that? I know you have a wonderful thought and I'm not trying to bring you down, just if you do travel that way, remember what this old lady has told you :) Have a good travel, quita88

As far as not having a car to go to town in, I've often jokingly said that I would just go back to riding a horse to town if I keep having as much car trouble as I've been having, lol. Also, with gas prices the way they have been, I think it might be the best option. I know they're not as high as they have been but they're high enough. Kathy.

Yes, it is nice to dream. Oh yes, I buy feed all the time for this horse and I've had to buy it for horses I've owned in the past. I've also bought hay for them, too. I have had some help buying hay here lately for the horse I own now because I'm living on a small income. I may have to buy it this time. My nephew gave me this horse and he's helping me out with him. When daddy was living, I didn't have to worry about these things. I'm living by myself, now, and I'm the only one who does these things. I enjoy it, though. Sometimes a horse won't stop when you want him to. In that case, you have to pull him around in a short circle with one rein to make him listen. That's what they're teaching us out at the therapeutic riding center, anyway. This gets him dizzy. Your comment had me a little upset last night because it made me feel like I didn't know anything about horses and taking care of them. I've been around them since I was 7 years old. I hope that wasn't your intention, though. Kathy.

I would almost agree to riding a horse rather than buying gas, but have you bought feed and hay or a horse? I know, horses are easier to get along with than a blasted car that says, "whoa " I don't want to go !!! I think it would be best, good? for all of us if we had to go back to those days of the horse and buggy, making our own garden, and doing without all the modern conveniences we have now. HA! If the economy gets any worse, we'll all be hoeing our own garden, walking instead of driving, and doing without electricity !! STill nice to dream tho, huh? quita88

I've seen that film, it's great. I'd go back to school as well as there are people I wouldn't have hung around with and I would have taken studying a lot more seriously. then I would of done a different course at college and actually stuck with it

I would have taken my studying a little more seriously, too. I probably still would have majored in music in college, though. That's how much I enjoyed it. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

I was still in school in the '60s. I entered junior high in 1965 and senior high in 1968. There was no way I could work then. Well, after my first year of typing, which was 1968-69, I worked for daddy at the office that summer. The next summer, I went to summer school. I worked at the office again the next summer before going off to college. Those were actually some good times in a way. Kathy.
