Good day miks_redhot, Before I always got a virus, almost weekly I always clean my laptop, but the virus still coming around. But right now my laptop is very clean and I can say that it is free from virus, since I installed ESET Smart Security all the viruses that are trying to invade and infect my laptop cannot enter anymore.

Hello, Well with my new laptop that was bought over a year ago, I have never had any virus problems so I have never needed to format my computer, while other friends just bought their laptop and they already need to format. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I have formatted PCs dozens of times because I always was "a kid from the neighbour who knows everything about computers". I was affected by a virus in 1999 and that was the last and the only time. The virus' name was Melissa and I ended with burned motherboard. Happy mylotting and take care!

I have formatted my computer at least 25 times. Once I had a virus that had infected my other partitions. At last I found the way to clean the system without formatting the whole disk. Format, install XP,install ESET nod, scan the whole thing.

I have reformatted disks countless of times because they have been infected millions of times by malware. And there is no way to actually stop them, just some preventive measures to probably help you computer detect the stuff before causing trouble. Aside from that, troublesome and aged registries can ruin your computer, so even if its virus free, I still format at least thrice a year. Not too much of a big deal once you get used to it.

my antivirus takes care of the virus. i usually format my computer between 3 to 6 months. the worst virus problem that i've encountered though was that it erased all my files in drive C and D. i ended up formatting my computer. this happened 3 years ago.
