organizing the closet

We have a regular clothes closet in our bedroom and a storage closet. The storage closet has become an oversized junk draw. It was so full we were afraid to go through it and look for anything. We had the attitude that if it's in there it's lost forever. Well I finally got brave enough to try to semi-organize it. It's amazing what I found. The best thing was all the pictures I found in different boxes of the kids growing up. From studio photos to just 35mm snap shots. I even found pictures of the dog I had when I was a kid. I found full notebooks, and a whole pack of pencils. I found whole bottles of glue, yarn, threads, bobbins, gummy erasers. Even found all the papers from my first divorce. Anyway the closet looks a lot better now and I was able to throw away 3 or 4 bags of garbage and eliminate probably about 6 boxes. I even found what I was originally looking for and the whole reason I took on this enormous task. My marrage certificate. I emptied out an old portable file folder and put all the misilanous pictures I found in it. Those really had me remanising. I even found my left-handed scissors that I thought were lost forever. Woo-hoo. So have you taken on a cleaning out project and found some interesting things that you forgot you had? Tell me about it.:)

I love to organize things but there is always something more that needs to be done. My camera went missing for quite a while and I finally decided to go looking for it. I went through drawers and found vacuum cleaner parts, glue, jewelry, some change, etc. I looked high and low. No room was exempt. I went through the cupboard full of DVD's and video's, the bookcases, sewing supplies, desk, storage room. Remember when cameras were large and you could find them. Now they need a beeper of something on them. I finally found it in the living room entertainment center under a statue. Go figure. I finally remember putting the camera there so that it would not get scratched. In all the looking I did find the camera case that I did not know I had. Now the camera has a home and it's not under the statue.

I'm glad you found your camera. I found our old digital camera. (one of those really big ones that took a floppy disk). The charger and extra battery for it. An old video camera that I don't even know if it works. Also found two camera cases. A laptop case that I didn't even know we had. Heck I even found a bookbag that looked like it was brand new.

Wow .. great fun when you get back the memories documents. But the cupboard to disassemble the contents of the work is tiring and boring. I also have some boxes that I have to re-arrange the contents. Huh!

It definately did get boring as well. I thought I was never going to get through it. half-way through it I was starting to wonder if I had bitten off more than I can chew. LOL

Yeah, hopefully feeling bored, switch to the beautiful memories.

I do this from time to time, and I always find stuff that I forgot I had. So it is kind of like shopping in your own closet! I highly recommend it to everyone, because while it can be hard work, it is really rewarding too! My goal is to do a full organization of every closet and drawer I have twice a year.
