A dictionary is a lexicon, so in making answer to your question for how many it is only one because I can only read article or material written in my mother tongue language. Especially, when an author wrote the word which I am not familiar with. A word relates to its synonymous and antonymous words, sometimes the acronym words.

Reading is always vital to learn any language better. But in this age of internet and computers, our children are too lazy to look up a dictionary, rather they would switch on the net and browse thru dictionary.com, which is not the same as going thru an actual dictionary. I remember in my childhood, keeping a dictionary at hand while studying, was compulsory and while looking up a particular word, I used to come across so many other new words that interested me and hence my vocabulary increased a lot. Nowadays, I try to make my son go thru the dictionary but as I said, its quite difficult. He is more comfortable with online dictionaries but I am still trying to make it a habit with him to leaf thru an actual book and not the virtual option.

Hi, 23uday! I am fond of reading newspapers, magazines and pocketbooks. I find it helpful in improving my grammar and vocabulary. I can also get updates on the news not only in our country but also across the globe. I can also learn different places without traveling. IReading gives a lot of knowledge and entertainment, too.

DICTIONRY is very useful for me when i encounter a word that is not familiar to me,i will find the word in the DICTIONARY.SOMETIMES i will use the english-chinese dictionary to find the meaning of the english word with the chinese explanation,so that ican better undstand what the meaning of the word.of course, i will also use the english-englisn DICTIONARY,because the english-english dictionary is sometimes will explain the word more accurately than the englian-chinese DICTIONARY because of the culture difference between the ENGLISH COUNTRY AND CHINESE COUNTRY.
