Do you stay calm during an accident?

During our camping trip this summer I cut my finger with an axe. Though I was very lucky as it didn't cut the bone, I was in the middle of no where with three children by myself. I was really calm yet told the children it was bad. My daughter was surprised at how calm I was but I explained later that when something is serious, it is my way of dealing with the situation rationally. She says she would freak. So do you stay calm during an accident? Or are a freaker?

hi vicki i am sorry you do to go through something like that, i have to say many of us sometimes tend to panic at such situations, but you have handled it well, one really needs to be careful when with there children, it sometimes happens that the very young ones get really scared when the elder cries or goes into panic, it has a lot of effect on the small ones.... well really don't know how i would do if something like that happens with me, but i can say that i tend to take it rather patiently... patience is a great virtue especially in situations like these.... have a nice day:)

You are totally right. Children need to feel that things are safe and calm. THanks
