Have You Seen Cake Boss?

Anyone seen the TLC show Cake Boss about a bakery in New York that makes a variety of cakes? I had never seen it until today. I got hooked right away and I ended up watching like a marathon of the show. I just loved seeing all the cool cake creations they made from the Leaning Tower of Pisa cake to the one with fireworks. Sure makes me want to bake again, but I am not even much into eating cake, so that seems a waste to do personally just for the fun of decorating.

I love that show and Duff Goldman's Ace of Cakes. And the FoodNetwork Cake Challenges where they make specific cakes in 8 hours. Granted I think they are getting off "easy" by using fondont and not frosting.. but still...it is fun to watch and see what they all do with limited ingredients and such. Some are pretty amazing and cool, others are "eh, okay" kind but just watching those talented people do what they do with powder sugar is amazing!

I have been really impressed with what they can do and the whole creativity of Cake Boss. I really want to see Ace of Cakes now that you and the other commenter mentioned it. I have seen commercials for the Food Network Cake Challenges, but have never seen it. It sounds like the new cake off show that is coming to TLC later this month, which I will definitely be trying to watch/record.

I cannot wait to see the one with Yankee Stadium, as I love baseball. I recorded it, but have not had a chance to watch it yet. Hopefully, I will have some free time at home tonight to check that out.

Watch them all if you can.. they are just so much fun and to watch the progress of construction of cakes... it is amazing! And the accidents they have from time to time... like just recently Cake Boss had a REALLY tall cake... it was being carried down the stairs and one slight shift of a hand, and the whole thing toppled down the stairs!!!!I really would have hated to be the one to clean all that up! The Cake Challenges are themes.. recently it was from the movie Ice Age 2 - they have four competitors and the cakes made were scene from the movie and it was Scrat, Manny, the lion (forge this name, didn't see the movie) and forget the other one. They had a Disney pricness theme.. and they chose a scene from their favorite princess movie. Dr Seuss was recent and so was Sesame Street. The Challenage also did Miley Cyrus 16th birthday cake and it just goes on.. I have m 9 year old GD hooked on it! I record it in the evenings when she isnt there and we watch the next time she comes over. She is SO ready to become a cake decorator!!!

I have never seen Ace of Cakes, but I have seen the commercials. It does seem that it is a similar show. After enjoying Cake Boss yesterday, I think I will try to set up to record Ace of Cakes or maybe happen upon it being on when I am looking for something to watch.

Yes, I have seen it. My fiance and I started watching it over the summer. We've been watching it on a fairly regular basis. Although I enjoy watching the show, I'd probably have to say that my fiance is slightly more 'addicted' to it than I am.
