NASA is going to bomb the Moon

News source: Telegraph UK, Daily Telegraph Australia, Englishclub and Google. It seems that on 9th October 2009, Nasa is going to fire a 2 ton kinetic centaur rocket at the moon from Cape Canaveral. It will travel at double the speed of a bullet and they hope to create a 6 mile crater. In order to test the dust and cloud released from the surface for traces of water. If the search ios successful it could provide supplies for a moon base. Also, an accompanying spacecraft will orbit the moon for a year looking for possible landing sites for astronauts to land and also will create a minutely detailed map of the moon's surface. Can you imagine common man ever living on the moon? Would you like to live there, why? Wouldn't it be better to spend so much money to do something about the starving on this planet?

"The meek shall inherit the Earth" the rest of us are going to the STARS! I want to live in the Moon! Heck, I'm all for a Moon colony. Honestly, there is NO reason that people are starving on Earth, its all POLITICS!

Hahahhaaaaa, laughing hysterically here! Hahhaaaa, can't stop! Brilliant! Yeah I often wish to go somewhere else too! What a thought! Sometimes I wish a spaceship would just drop by and take me for a real cool spin and adventure holiday and then drop me off back at earth, but give me an option that I can call them at will when it all gets too much down here!! Which is pretty often in my case.LOL. Yes I totally agree, it's all damn seedy politics! Disgusting! They ruin it all here! Do you believe there are good ET's out there? Angelie

Hi stritrinity, It is bad enough that man has polluted this beautifull planet earth not they are going to do the same to the Moon? this is reiculious, they should sort the earth out before spending all that money to do that, yes you are right, they should use their resources to feed the third world countries and stop starvation before doing this, I am so angy about it. Hi Tamara, I am 100% with you on that, disgusting isn't it. I mean I can understand spending on research if the our 'system' was altruistic, but it's not! It's capitalistic and that means greed and dominion. Whatever, they are doing up there is for greed and dominion. Research on the moon and the third world ,don't we have our priorities wrong? What happened to clean up your own back yard first? And no one has a say in it! They just go ahead and do it, as if they own the moon. The arrogance of man just exhausts me. Angelie

Hi sri! You have a point to make that huge amount of money to be used on bombing the moon, could be used to fed the starving population of our plantet. However, I feel that 'research' in new vistas and fields is equally important to explore many hidden secrets and money will have to be invariably spent on new research projects. I feel that research cannot be stopped because you need to feed people first, every area is allotted different budget by the respective Government and spending on every field is important.

Yes I agree with you, research is very important, but there has to be a priority, and personally I feel directly bombing the moon is not going to help us. At the end of the day in this world of capitalism, there is still much left to be deserved in giving humanity priority. Many research is done only for world dominion with little interest for mankind at heart.

Hi sri! I buy your arguments that giving priority to mankind is also equally important and some of the countries may be doing some research work, just to show their dominance to others.
