My relationship sucks

I met a girl that I truely love. But she is the most controlling person I have ever met. We have been together, off and on for 1 1/2 years. She is 25 in a few weeks, and I am 27. I bend over backwards for her, she is living with me and didnt have a job for the summer(because she works in after school care). She failed to save enough money during her work time to support herself for 3 months while she was on summer vacation. I pay all the rent, all the utilities, all of the groceries. Her dog which I depise had to go to the emergency room and I paid the 800 dollars. Here is the problem. I recently got into photography and wanted to buy a higher quality camera. I had a 300 dollar point and click and wanted to get a digital slr. I plan to do photography as a secondary career, so I wanted to get more than just a small upgrade. When I mention this to her, she throws a fit. I saved some more money and ended up purchasing a 2500 dollar camera without telling her, because I knew she would complain and start a fight. Its money I have earned, I have no debt, my car is paid off, and have money for rent and I think she has no right in hell to tell me what to spend my money on. Today the camera came in, I mentioned to her that I was stopping to pick up a camera I bought, and she flipped out. I love this girl sooo much but I just dont think I can take it anymore. Every aspect of my life, who I talk to, where I go, what I buy is controlled by her. Ive missed family events because she will make plans and wont even budge alittle.
