Cell Phones in Cinemas

I've often been confronted with the incredibly annoying sound of someone's cell phone ringing during a movie. This seems to happen more than it should despite messages before the movie. The question is, is there an simple way to avoid this without changing peoples experience?

I think the only solution is the screening of cinema theaters so that there is no network coverage. That way, you won't hear ANY cellphones ringing. I don't think people have the common sense to turn the cellphones on silent anymore. That may also be caused by the fact that cellphones are becoming more and more a part of our life and we just don't think about turning them off any more...
