My wife is so much addicted to TV that when she observe any TV show she can't hear any outside sound. When I come from office or any other work I push my door bell button for several times. I hear from the outside that the bell is ringing. But the sound don't reach her ears. She was then passionately watching TV show. At last she opens the door. Sometimes I could not control my temper. Then I use heard words to her. I don't want to behave like that with my loving wife. But how can I cure her TV mania?

actually this television mania is not the problem only with wife but also with everyone even when u will have your children and they are regular use of it than they will also be addicted to it. basically this has become a major disadvantage or a type of disease in my accordance this can only be cure if through your love you are trying your wife to avoid watching television. really if you are able to succeed to keep your wife away from all these serials than you are able to succeed to get through this. so try to help your wife in recovering from this mania and be patient for its result. there is no need of psychological doctor required for this. it will be naturally cured. so i hope that your wife will recover soon.

Hello bhanusb! I think I agreed with the first responder.Give her a phone and let it ring when you're coming..hehehe..Like what other responses here, that kind of addiction is hard to cure by yourself unless you go to an expert.

Is there a reason you don't have a key to your own home. Back to the question my mom is like that when she is reading a book. I don't know how to get through to her. I can be in the same room talking and she wont hear me at all. If someone has the answer to this let me know also.

I have a duplicate key of the lock of my home. But she keeps locked from the inside. It's not possible to open the security lock from outside. Have you got any solution from the above posts?

get her a DVR box that way she can record her shows and watch them on her own time then when something else is going on she can pause it. I love my DVR.

May be the result will be opposite. I have to stay out of my home for hours after hours.

She is becoming deaf? Na? I have a very good solution, if you apply, my aunty will get back her hearing power! Do you want to know what? Well, telling you! When going out, just tell her that "I will buy a new Sari, or Ornament, or Special dinner for you today"! You will see the result yourself; she will open the door even before you push the calling bell!

Very good suggestion my little boy. But your suggestion can be applied in the first week of the month, when my pocket will remain heavy. Rest of the month your aunty will again become deaf. Give me another solution in the next post.Thanks.

It is better to limit the TV watching hours and to be selective about the number of favourite programs per day.

It's not possible for me to limit the TV watching hours. Because she rules the home.

This is something beyond your control! I've been married 3 times and they all suffered this affliction and it usually started the day after the honeymoon! Sorry pal! tdemex

You have been married for three times! So your experience must be more more bitter than me. I think your honeymoon(s) was quite calm and silent. Thanks tdemex.

It may be true that her hearing is being affected, not just that her attention is somewhere else. TV is generally an escape, maybe she is bored or upset with some parts of her life, be kind and loving what ever you do. Maybe get her additted to mylot.

I don't think she is bored or upset. May be so. May be I could not enter to her deep feelings of any part of her life. But I will not search that.Everybody has some thing which is only for her/him. Thanks.

Well i guess she must lower the volume of he television. Just explain it in a nice way though, not shaming her mistake. I am also a wife but I am not addicted to television nor watching television program , I devote some of my free time to work online. By the time that my hubby comes to home, since we don't have a door bell,he just simply knock the door slightly, just one tiny quiet knock, i'd be able to get the door even if I am in the kitchen cooking. Probably it helps my ears be sensitive to a slight noise, because I don't really like a place that is very loud and noisy . Anyway, i told already what ou should do, tell her that she should lower the volume, 10 decibels is harmful already.

She hears the TV in low volume. She is not interested to work online. She does all the household works herself. In her free time she watch TV.So I have to consider this mistake of her.

Yes this is a good suggestion. She has a cell phone. But some times ring of cell phone does not enter her ears. I'm so helpless.
