Would you buy a book simply because you like the cover?

Sometimes, I do buy a book if I love the front cover, especially when I have some extra cash. If I am not really familiar with the author, I often consider the cover, next is the title and so on. Especially when I am in a hurry that I just often went to the section/category that I like and grab a book that caught my attention. How about you, what are your basis in buying books? Would you buy a book simply for its cover? Have a great day!

No. I don't really mind about the beautiful cover of the book. I usually buy books with inspirational themes. Whenever I buy a book, I look at the back cover first to read the review about the book's content. Then I browse the book's contents and if like it, I buy it. There are books with attractive cover but with poor contents. It's a waste of money if you buy those type of books. The book I had recently bought was The Heavenly Man and that's the only book that i weep while reading it. It's very inspirational and life-changing book.

Yeah, its sometimes a waste of time and money buying a book that has cheap content. I also often read the synopsis if I have enough time. But mostly when I like the picture I often take and read the book. Reading inspirational and uplifting books is a good thing. I do have sister who loves reading and like collecting those kind of books and stories. We do share sometimes, and it helps to get up especially when I am in trouble. By the way who's the author of the book The Heavenly Man? Thanks my friend for sharing with us Have a greeat day!

Actually, it was written by a Chinese author translated into English by Paul Hattaway. It's about the persecution Chinese Christians receive in their present government.

Yeah peace001, I'm just like you, when I love the cover I take and read the book. Especially when I'm exploring and looking for something new to my taste. You know I'm kinda like an impulsive buyer, which is not good, 'cause sometimes, I bought expensive books that has poor content. Thanks for sharing with us Have a great day!

Alot of times something that draws me to a book is the cover The only way that I would buy the book for the covert to alone, is if the cover was just too nice to pass up. But I haven't run into a book like that yet. Usually I will buy a book for the summary, and if the book has variant covers, I will let the cover become a deciding factor This excludes comic books, because certain covers are rarer than others.

Yeah, there's really some books that has awesome, wonderful picture cover. That you get lost the first time you see it. I love painting and photography, that's why often I get caught by the cover of the book. But still it's important to read the content of the book before buying. Thanks for sharing with us Have a great day!

No, I don't buy a book simply because I like the cover. I'll buy a book if the synopsis of the book interests me. If you bought a book simply because of it's cover, then I think you might be disappointed, as you don't know what the book is about, unless the cover makes it very clear what the book is about. This simply does not make much sense to me. It might just be me, but it's what I think about buying a book simply because I like the cover.

Well good for you that you really take time to read the synopsis first before buying it. It's the best way to save your time and money. Because cover can be really deceiving sometimes, and I'm one of the victim.LOL I'm just really lazy reading the cover of the book. Thanks for sharing with us Have a great day!

Hello! For the most part I dont just buy a book because of its cover, but sometimes the classic books look so bad .... that I just wanna pass them up , but I know they are awesome. I know if it was between 2 books and the one cover was nicer and then maybe I will then.Usually, I know what book I wanna buy before I buy it from hearing about it or looking into it further. What is the quote never jude a book by its cover That way you might be missing out on something very nice . I am sure when we are kids we look at the covers and the pictures more if you know what I mean . Have a nice night and happy mylotting!!

Yeah, that's the lesson that I should have learned long time ago. But it's just that I can't help it. I'm really fascinated by the pictures and so as covers. That's why I often experienced disappointment. But anyways, most of the book that I have and has poor content, did have a great amazing cover. Anyways thanks for sharing with us Have a great day!

Not anymore, I used to buy books with covers that caught my eye and ended up with a book that I just couldn't get into reading. So now I read a little about the book on the back or the inside flap. I don't like to buy a book in a hurry but if I do, I will just pick something by an author that I like so there's a good chance I'll enjoy the book too.

Well, good that you'd learned your lessons. Yeah when we only look after the cover of the book, we often end up disappointed. That's why as much as possible I tried to avoid to buying a book when I am in a hurry. But when I am looking for something new, I often take consideration on the cover. Thanks for sharing with us Have a great day!

When I buy a book, I make sure I would like reading it by skimming a few pages and the back summary. I do like books with pretty covers but I'll save that for the library where I could take as many beautiful books as I want and then just return them. I remember when I was little, there was this series of books with a beautiful cover and I would check one of them out whenever at the library

I look first for genre, then Author, then title when buying books. I don't really care what the cover picture is. (A lot of my books have plain covers anyway) I don't buy a book by a new author without reading the synopsis first but it's something on the cover that will attract my attention to a new author or genre. I don't tend to buy books in a hurry but I buy lots and 'according' to my daughter should never be let near a bookshop or the aisles in the super-market. I tend to buy 'series' books by particular Authors so it doesn't matter wether I like the cover or not but I can usually spot the art-work and style of the cover quickly which means less searching. I did once buy a book purely for it's cover though ..... It was a beautiful red leather with a dragon engraved on it and I'd have bought it even if it had been written in Chinese. As it turned out it's a childrens book. We all have our weaknesses .... lol

Nope. I don't buy books for the cover although sometimes it helps in giving you ideas of what the story is about (like the title). My basis for buying books are 1. the author, if I had liked the a book of an author I will buy his/her other books, 2. if I wanted to try out some other authors, I check the synopsis first, I always take note of the genre because I don't really buy romance novels (but I read those lend by friends). I like them when they're thriller or suspense with a lot of twists and conflicts. I find those sort as interactive since I would be constantly guessing who does this, who kills, who saves, what will happen to this character and etc.

I have never seen a cover that was so inticing I would purchase it for it, regardless of what may be inside. I will look at books based on titles sometimes, but that is about it.

no i will not buy a book just because i like the cover. the cover can catch my attention, and it would make me reach for it, but i read the back for the review to see if it is interesting, then if the book is not in plastic and can be opened, i read a little of the front and one page of the ending... im weird... lol if i am really curious with it, then that would make me buy it.

But then again normally with a beautiful cover book alawys have a good content i think the editor are smart. They know what is important.Anyway it's my opinion have a great day~

If I'm not looking for a specific book then the front cover will attract me to look more closely, but it will always be the synopsis on the back that convinces me whether or not to buy it. Sometimes, especially if I'm in the library and therefore don't have to pay, then I will get a book out for the cover, cos if it's a dud then it hasn't cost me anything.

Yes, I have bought books because I liked the look of the front cover. I also have bought them because of the title being an intriguing one. I usually buy books because I enjoy the work by that author or because I have read a good review of the book.

I don't think so, not simply for the cover, although that'd be one of the main reasons. I always have to look inside the book and see what its about and skim through some pictures and read a little before buying, the title is the main thing that gets me interested in a book.

I would buy a book for it's content, however would go for it's cover if it's design is so attractive that could add to my collections or my grand daughter would need it in the future for school projects.

I will never invest money on a book only because I like the front cover. I buy book rarely and I am careful about that. Mostly, I buy books only if somebody has said that it is interesting. If I just want to buy a book, I always go through the index and read some pages of the book to see if it is interesting. Books are expensive and I should be careful in this recession tiem.

well sometimes if i am just looking for a book to read the cover might catch my attention. then i would read the back if the have a little taste of what the book is abou. if i still am not sure it it will be a good read i'll open to a random page and see what is on the inside. now if they have one of the authors i enjoy reading i would check to see what the next book in the series is and get that.

No!! I usually read the back cover first. Usually right after a couple of sentences I know if I want to read the book or not. I need instant gradification, lol..
