Have you ever lost a friend to a long illness? How long ago was it? How did you get through your grief?

Losing anyone you love even if not through a long illness is never easy. We have to remember to love the ones we love while they are here. And keep their memories alive with-in ourselves. I have lost loved ones from illnesses, accidents, and even murder. None are easy to deal with. Remembering to love is what gets us through it.

No one we love ever leaves us completely. They remain in our lives through our hearts

Yeah, but on net only, many times, i think it takes time to get thru our grief and later we become engage in other better things and find other friends so it is part of life and i think cyber friends may be really virtual friends and not true friends.

Yes, I have. My Dad was my best friend. He was killed in a scaffoling accident back in 2001. I had moved out of my parents house against their wishes to move in with my b/f (now hubby). We were on bad terms for about 3 months, and finally got back on good terms about 1 month before the accident. Sometimes I wonder, would he still be with us today if I had of never moved in with my b/f. Maybe he wouldnt have went to work that day. Who knows? It's called the "Butterfly Effect" and that thing is horrifical.

Yes, my stepmother was a great friend and she had lung cancer, same goes for my ex mother in law she had a rare form of adrenal cancer and it was hard, it's still hard for me and it's been 3 yrs for the mother in law and 1 yr for my stepmom. I just cry and go through the motions of the grief and then I feel better sometimes I take walks....
