I read in the news that President Obama has indicated that he feels the economy is getting better. I don't see it. I see that gas prices have gone back up, prices of groceries have gone back up and banks are raising interest rates and late fees on credit cards. What do you think?

The economic crisis hasn't really hit us here but I think its about time people realise that them not spending is not going to make it any better. Then just more companies will go bankrupt . watch south park for all the answers lol :P

Your're right about that! The less spending people are doing is only causing more people to lose their jobs. Haven't seen South Park in awhile - I'll check out and see what I can find:o

definitely not from my perspective, gambler. I only see our money going faster out of our bank account. Groceries and gas are high. and I don't see people getting their jobs back. the unemployment in my state is the highest in the country. and I haven't seen it go down anywhere. My husband noticed our credit card limits go down as our balance goes down. and they don't send many 0% offers anymore. and the % rates just go up more and more. I don't know where he is seeing it but it's not hapening here.

I agree with you completely. All I see is the prices going up for groceries, gas, bank finance charges, and now the state with their new "Sin Tax" and the 6% they are adding on to Candy, no less, to try to start recouping their losses. I'm in Illinois and one of those millions that lost their job. I'm not seeing any improvement either.

looking form outside the US, I think the economy of the US is still on a slump and indicators in our own economy may also reflect if the US is recovering. I just can imagine living in the US during these times and I think living in my country, Philippines is more manageable because we are used to being in hardship and know how to survive tough times.

Thank you for responding to my discussion. I agree with you about the economy still being in a slump and I think it will be a while longer before we recover. Unfortunately, it seems like the Banks, food manufacturers, gas and oil companies and even the individual states are trying to recover by increasing their prices/taxes. I'm just not sure how that's supposed to help people like me and the millions of other people that have lost their jobs due to the economic downturn. It will be interesting to see how the next few month play out.
