How early is too early?

My daughter is 7 months old. She's been crawling for over a months, and for the past week or 2 has started pulling herself up to stand and walking, supported by furniture. She's so determined, but I can see the strain on her little legs. Should I discourage this, or just be proud and supportive?

I'll bet you cannot discourage her. She will walk anyway. Instead I suggest you exercise and strengthen your legs. The chase time has begun. The little ones have a knack of finding out which door is open and promptly stagger through it like a berserk missile. My son once shut himself in the bath room and simply slept on the floor. I had to become a contortionist to slip through the tiny window to rescue him! He climbed the stairs and rolled down it several times. By the time he grew up enough to understand the dangers, my house was picket fenced from inside. Small gates at each door and at the stairs. Unfortunately he had mastered the art of unlatching them and used them a swings to sway in and out and bump into the walls. Yeah! show time is on!

Wonderful, the determination of the young never fails to amaze and inspire me. We could all learn a good lesson on persistence from the kids.

My son also started pulling up and walking at 6 months by 8 months he was running!! My doctor said that there is no problem with it, it does not cause bow leggedness, babies look bow legged because of the way their legs are folded in the womb and they dont straighten out until after a year or so. Its a blessing and a curse, because your daughter like my son, will skip the baby stage and go roght to toddler! good luck god bless her!

I would just let her be. She's just now starting to pull up on furniture and so on, so her legs are gonna look wobbly and as it's too much weight on her legs. She will learn and she will know what is too much. My little girl, started pulling up and walking around about this age too, but she didn't let go for another few weeks, so in time and at the right pace, your little one will know when it's her time to let go.

I would definitely just be proud of her.. Some babies do walk early. She is getting her self ready.. My stepson walked at 9 months old while my 2 sons didnt walk till later. My oldest walked at 12 months and my youngest walked at 13 months. Just let her be. This is a very exciting milestone. Enjoy it

I think it is fantastic!!! Congratulations!! I was walking at 7 months 3 weeks 5 days, so no, as a 29 year old who's legs are just fine, I say there are no problems with it. Let her go. However, just because she is starting this now, she may still not walk for a few months. My son started standing and walking along the furniture at about 8 months, but he wasn't full blown walking on his own until he was about 10 1/2 - 11 months. Good luck! Life is about to get a lot bumpier, lol.

I think it's fine. My son started around the same time. Every baby is different some faster than others. My son's turning 1 tomorrow and now he's walking everywhere and laughing because he can do it without falling every three steps. lol

Awesome, that is fantastic. When it comes to a Childs development, there is no such thing as "too early"!! The sooner the better when it comes to walking/crawling/talking/eating etc etc. Not until they start asking questions and learning to you have to be careful at what stage to let them know about certain situations. Notice I said Stage and not Age. You wait until your child is ready. It is all up to how well they can handle the situations.

Hi TaravP..Glad to be parent right.I think, all parents must be proud of their kids especially when we see them growth day by day.I think,7 months is early time to learn walking because as I know that normally is begin 9 or 10 months. We have to concerned about their feet and let she do by herself, not because we take her by hold her hands. But there is baby who can walk at 10 month. My son was two years old now and she walk at 13 months old.

I think you should just leave her be, the process will help to strengthen her legs anyway and if it gets too much for her she will just drop down to the sitting position anyway. Good luck to you, now is the time when you need to have eyes in the back of your head, my daughter is pulling herself up to stand now and even though i constantly watch her she has still fallen and banged her head twice this week
