OMG - I can't even imagine. This girl is my age - first to be abducted at 11 in front of her helpless stepfather, then to find out that she is alive, been kept living in tents in the backyard of her abductors home, raped and lord knows what else for 18 years. She now has 2 children with the psycho, age 11 and 15 (that means she was forced to have her first child without a doctor at the age of 14!), and now, thanks to 2 amazing officers at a college campus, she has been found, her and her children reunited with her mother and sister after 18 years. I'm so torn - what a horrific thing she must have gone through for all that time... How wonderful a miracle for her mother and family that after 18 years she is actually alive... What must she be like after all she has been through? This is not the little girl they lost anymore - I just feel terrible for them all around - elated and terrible at the same time, and most of all thankful that they all have finally gotten away from the sick b*st*rd who did this in the first place. Any thoughts?

This case is so awful. I've been following this story on the news. I was surprised she was still alive. Although she has undergone some horrific things done to her by her abductors. Living in tents in the background. I can't believe she wasn't found earlier. Last night a new program said there had been parole offices and other officials at the house. Why didn't they think to check the entire premises? I am happy that she is safe and with her family again. She must have really bad post traumatic stress disorder. The abductor was trying to say he listened to what God told him. I highly doubt God told him to do this to this little girl. I hope he goes away for a very long time.

I would imagine she would have post traumatic stress disorder as well. Her abductors were sick individuals, and I feel just horrible for everyone involved. I saw that same program - that's what made me post this - wasn't that horrific?!? I couldn't believe that there were cops to the house to check out the people in the backyard 3 years ago, but they never investigated the backyard. That is just disgusting. I hope they are fired from their jobs, and yes, I hope he goes away - he should be sent to Maricopa County where the sheriff will make him live outside in a tent in the desert and work on a chain gang.

I hope they get fired too. They obviously weren't doing their jobs right. Otherwise she would've been found a few years ago. I'm with this being a national story, there will be a lot of investigations into this.

I've heard bits and pieces of the story. It is so sad. I really feel for the girl and her family. It has been so long though that it isn't their daughter they are getting back. It is some strange woman with 2 kids. I'm sure their daughter is very altered after living like that for so long and having 2 kids at such a young age. Years of therapy probably will help some, but I wonder if the girl remembers her family or her mother at this point.

I feel the same way. It is a curse and a blessing all at once. By living these 18 years like this, she endured horrible things, as did her children I'm sure, and completely changed from the person she was. But, at the same time, thank god she's alive, and out, and the are back with the family, her mother must be beside herself with shock for very many reasons... I am not a religious person, but I pray for them that they come out of this as ok as they possibly can be, and are able to have good lives together. I wondered about that too - she may be totally brainwashed after all this time and not even have been realizing how wrong this all was and just accepting it as life. Ugh - I cannot even imagine... Thank god they are out...
