A few days ago, I started a discussion titled "Are There Any Famous People From Your Hometown?" In this discussion, I mentioned that Talullah Bankhead, an old actress, was from my hometown of Jasper, Alabama and that before we moved into the house where I'm living now, we lived down the street from her house. Her daddy built this house in the 1920s. Anyway, I read in our local newspaper a day or two later that the Walker Area Community Foundation has bought this property and they are refurbishing the house. I have driven by there several times and noticed they were working on it but didn't know what they were doing at the time. They are going to make a Heritage Center out of this house. If you would like to see a picture of the house and read the article about it, the link is: http://www.wacf.org/BankheadHome.pdf.

That house looks like so much fun and kinda eerie too.Its huge!!LOL.Your mum must have had some really wonderful times there. You missed out on the fun huh. Our film industry is based in my city, so lots of celebrities have lived in different parts of the city. I knew of one such family (their daughter is a well known actress here) who lived close to where we used to stay, but then they moved away. A play back singer who is very famous now, lived in the same community as us and was my junior in school.

Hi cbeee3! It's been long time no see on here! It's good to see you again! How have you been doing? I just never did get a chance to go in the house. I don't know why. I'm sure it was beautiful on the inside. The Crescent Study Club meetings were usually held after school but still, children weren't allowed to attend. It was just for adult women. Mother would usually let me stay with my sister or my sister-in-law while she went to club. I did entertain at one of these meetings one time. I was already grown then and that was when mother had it here at the house. I sang and played the guitar for them. You see, these meetings were held once a month and each of the members would take turns having it at their house each month. It's interesting that your film industry is based in your city. I bet you've seen a lot of interesting sights. What city do you live in? Do you mind me asking what celebrities have lived there? I just thought I might have heard of them. Who is the play back singer who lived in your community? I hope you don't think I'm being nosey. Kathy.

I always thought Julia Roberts was from Augusta, Georgia. Seems like I heard that one time, anyway. I went to David Lipscomb University with a boy from Smyrna, Georgia. I can't think of his name right now but if I could, I would ask you if you know him. I will have to look him up in one of my annuals. Then, I will ask you if you know him. It's a small world, isn't it? I'm from Alabama and I'm probably not that far from Smyrna. I think we're about three or four hours from Atlanta. You're right, lol. I've never heard of this singer. I keep up with music, especially country music, quite a bit, and I just thought I might've heard of this singer. I should have known since you said she was from India. I always wanted to be a celebrity, myself. I'm serious. I always wanted to be a professional singer. I mean, ever since I was a child I wanted to be a singer. I majored in music. I made a record one time. I've also auditioned for jobs at Opryland three times and Six Flags Over Georgia one time. I would much rather perform at places like these instead of in some nightclub. It's hard to get a break in the music business no matter how good you are. I didn't just give up, though. I just decided it wasn't the life for a christian. I still sing at one nursing home and one assisted living facility every month. I've been singing at the nursing homes since the '70s, I guess. I'm glad you don't think I'm being nosey in any way. Kathy.

Hi there, I was living in the US in Smyrna, Georgia. Julia Roberts is from Smyrna. Right now I am in Mumbai, India. Bollywood is based here. That is the massive Indian Film Industry. You are not being nosey in anyway Kathy! I am sure you don't know this singer. LOL. But her name is Shreya Ghoshal. She sings in our national language, Hindi. She is really talented. I have seen many celebrities when I travel from this Mumbai (Bombay) to other cities. Its fun to see all the commotion that surrounds them when they travel. Its good not to be a celebrity.

Would you believe I never have been in this house?! And I have been living in Jasper all my life. My mother used to go in it once a year when she was in the Crescent Study Club. The lady who was living in the house at the time was also in the club and they used to have their Christmas party there every year. The lady who was living there would play christmas carols on the organ for them and they all enjoyed it so much! Mother always looked forward to that. Yes, I agree. It would be fun to go exploring through it. They are already redoing it and once it is redone, I will get to go through it maybe. Kathy.

Yes, it's true that it won't be the same after they finish fixing the house up but it will still be interesting. Kathy.
