Anyone else have a really whiny child? I need help!

My 4 year old son is the whiniest kid I have ever met! I love him to death, wouldnt trade him for the world, but truth is truth and the truth is, this kids whines about EVERYTHING?! For no reason what so ever. You cant say or do anything around him, he whines about it all, I dont know what to do, his doctor is NOT helpful!! Anyone else ever deal with this? What do I do?? I up for any suggestions right about now.

I've had a long summer with a whiny 6 year old so I am very much looking forward to school on Monday! It does help sometimes if I spend a little extra 1 on 1 time with him...provided he doesn't whine about the activity. Ignoring him hasn't helped much and usually just makes him whine even more. Probably the best "solution" I've found is the same trick I use when my 2 year old is about to have a melt down: DISTRACTION! It's a lot harder to completely distract an older child from whatever their problem is but t can be done with some creativity and usually something completely over the top silly. Good Luck!
