Adding photos - advice needed....

August 30, 2009 6:46am CST
I know another newbie asking for help - but can someone tell me how to add photos to my discussions? I am quite an avid photographer and have loads of images sitting on my hard drive ready to be shown to the big wide world of the internet... and I have no idea how to do it on here! I know I can upload photos in the "photos" tab... but other than that I am lost :o(

You can add relevant photos to discussions but not to responses and comments. You will have that option too when you reach 500. Personal photos should be added to your profile and not to discussions. Another friend asked the same question not long ago and we helped out here: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2100433.aspx Hope you will find that helpful.

Thank you - you are an angel and very patient with us newbies.... I shall go and read the other thread that you have posted and work my way through how to do this... I am sure that I will get the hang of this mylot stuff eventually... In the menatime I shall take more photos so that they are ready to use when I get there! Thanks again ;o)

The older Lotters need the new users just as much as you, they, need us New users bring a breath of fresh air to the Lot and if we can help them get into the swing of things quicker by sharing when they have doubts then we can all have fun here quicker I hope that has helped and thank you for the BR

You are welcome - you have helped me out in many other discussions as well - so a best response was well deserved - the link to the previous thread certainly made things a lot clearer. I see what you are saying it is necessary for the new users to bring new ideas and such like to the site, while the older users can help us get "up to speed" and be able to get the most out of the site as quickly as possible... I guess people are a lot more likely to stay on here if they think they are getting what they want out of it - it is not much use of they give up without asking and trying is it?

Wow best response all ready? I usually wait at least a day, the guidelines say 1 week! So I guess I can't get any better than the other one. May be next time! I'll try to respond faster! Sorry! tdemex

Sorry tdemex - I didn't expect to get a number of responses after the first explaining the how to and giving another thread that I could read through... But I wasn't aware of the guidelines stating that you should wait a week or so before deciding on a best response... Thank you very much for letting me know about this one. I have been given best response almost immediately after posting on a couple of threads so I assumed it was the "done thing" I am sorry if I did wrong - but thank you for letting me know for the future... :o(

Jhelai - thank you for popping on by... I really didn't expect this many repsonses for a plea for help on photos - I am honoured that you have all taken the time to respond to me :o) Thank you so much! I have managed to put on two photos so far, but my connection is misbehaving itself right now so I haven't managed to add any more... I took some amazing ones yesterday of a rainbow outside my study window and I really want to get those on here as I think that they are quite stunning! I look forward to seeing your photos too - nature is quite amazing and can produce some of the most exquisite (sp?) images.... Thanks again - I appreciate the support :o)

I managed to upload one of the rainbow ones here http://tinyurl.com/mpckm6 - I would really appreciate any comments you have on it.... Rainbows don't appear very often but they are stunning when they do!
