I answered a discussion awhile ago and it reminded me of a discussion, so here goes mylot friends....."What Did We DO Before WalMart?".......I don't know about you but i cannot hardly remember what we did? where did we shop?....Ok i remember we had & still have "Target" but as far as a store that has it all like Walmart, i cannot hardly remember any other shopping place like it that actually is still around..I remember the old "Globe" stores and "Shoppers Fair" and also there was a "Gemco" here in Houston Texas...They have all closed down and even if you do not shop at "Walmart" you have to admit it is a big place and everyone knows about WalMart.....So can you look back & remember what you did, where did you go before WalMart? I mean it has it all, and everyday people alwayd tell you when you ask them WHERE they bought that and they will say "WalMart" haha

Walmart is the place to go. There isn't anyplace else like it. All the other stores cost too much, they don't have as much selection, and they don't have everything that Walmart has. you can find almost anything you want at Walmart. My grandson just loves Walmart. the grocery store part of Walmart has good prices too, Maybe someday we will bump into each other at Walmarts. We can sit down have a cup of cofee or some other kind of drink and have a chat.

Before WalMart I did most of my stuff at Zellers. I rarely go to Zellers anymore not because of WalMart but mainly due to the fact you can hardly get down isles because of boxes and boxes full of merchandise blocking the isles.

I have heard of Zellers but only since i have been on mylot..I had never heard of that store before then..We do not have a Zellers here that i am aware of...I live in a subrub outside Of Houston Texas, so i do not think they have one of those stores here.....The only thing is a Target, then Walmart that sells everything like groceries, cloths, jewery & just anything you need...Our WalMart stores here also stay open 24 hours, they never close..Sometimes if i am up late like maybe 1:00 am in the morning & i am not sleepy, thats when i take a nap..haha, i will go at 1:00 am in the morning to buy groceries, that way you have the store almost to yourself....

LOL went to WalMart yesterday :) We have Target here also but more along the lines of Walmart we have Meijer (groceries and all) - WalMart prices, service, and quality are better in my book but occassionally will still go to Meijer if they have something on a really good sale like Diet Pepsi :)

We didn't have Walmart until just a couple years ago - I do like them but they are packed all the time, walk a mile in the parking lot to get inside is not fun in winter :(

I actually can remember the times before Wal-Mart and kind of miss them. Before Wal-Mart there were Walgreens, Myers, and numerous other five and dime stores. There were craft stores, clothing stores, auto stores, and stores that sold home improvement items. When Wal-Mart came along they killed off all those little shops...ppl ran to Wal-Mart b/c it was easier and more convenient to find it all under the same roof. Now when Wal-Mart sells crappy stuff, we're stuck with it. To be honest, I'd trade the convenience to get the smaller stores back...there was a friendliness that Wal-Mart doesn't have. As I lived in Louisiana for nearly 17 years we had one store that opened up that was so huge the employees wore roller skates to get around the store. They had it all, Wal-Mart was just a regular store. Then all of a sudden the store was gone, and next thing you see is Wal-Mart with groceries on one side, regular store on the other. While it is convient to shop there I often get bored with what they have, especially clothes, and shop at other places like Macys, their mark down isles are wonderful, good clothes at less than Wal-Mart prices. I believe Wal-Mart was the first to come up with this idea and make it work. We had here in Ohio when I lived and worked here, a Rinks, or a other just stores like the regular Wal-Mart, but all have gone out of business because of Wal-Mart, There has always been warehouse clubs that I have belonged to for years that has both groceries and clothes, and household items. But a membership was needed.
