time period after surgery for treatment

My husband had surgery on july 5th and has had complications with infection and is still walking around with a drain.How long do people normally wait to start treatments. He is going for Radiation and Chemo

I believe that this would vary from person to person. However since he had complications they may wait to start as long as possible to be sure that the infections is 100% gone before weakening his immune system. When was the last time he saw his doctor?
