I have several years telemarketing. I started out calling homes for a construction company. The manager made it fun to work there. It eventually endeed when the owner of the company decided he didn't want to do that. I had a few other ones calling homes and it was OK. It was a job. Then, I got into a company where I was calling businss's. At first, the thought of calling presidents and owners of companies was kind of scary. Then I started makingt some calls and found it was easier. Even the ones that were not intreested were nicer about it.And more listened to what I had to offer. But no matter what, one thing about those jobs, you nhave to be productive. Many require one sale a day or even more. And if you don't, you don't just get written up. You lose your job. On the other hand, if you're good, you can make pretty good money. The saying "part time work, full time pay" is really true.

Hi Marty, I just started a political fundraising job and was wondering how you cope with the stress of the job? People getting angry at you all day for trying to do your job really takes a toll and the stress of it is sometimes really difficult to deal with. Do you have any tips for a newbie?

As far as the stress part of it, that depends highly on the company. Do they expect you to produce a certain amount of sales a day, or a week? At least a little bit of stress is just a natural part of that job. People getting upset is also something you can't do anything about. One thing to remember is every no brings you closer to that yes. Try not to let a no discourage you from making the next call. You hardly ever get two of those in a row. Just remember what you said, you're just doing your job. On the other hand, the person you are calling is just reacting. They may have their number on a do not call list and they're still getting calls. Or they were in the middle of something and you interupted them. Telemarketing is not a piece of cake, but because of that, there are lots of jobs out there. Just do the best you can and try not to let it get to you.

I know of a place to get paid by the hour doing administrative and inbound and outbound calling from home. Have a look in my profie for the information. I'll tell you the jobs that are available right now: Customer service(taking calls from home), Lead Calling/Cold Calling, Phone assistant, Lead qualification, telephone customer care, and lots more. Since you already do Avon that means you probably call your customers, you've already have a lot of exerience. If you need help just send me a message. These jobs are definitely not as stressful as political fundraising so you should do just fine.
