The Amish

I have always been interested these simple folks. What I don't like about the Amish is when when an adult child leaves the community forever to live in the outside world, most are shunned for life! I don't like that practice and I know that is part of their way. The biggest thing that bothers me is when I hear stories of Amish girls being sexually abues by brother or other Amish men! It seems to me the Amish community isn't wanting to grasp that this could be a big problem or that it isn't a problem at all! Anyway those are just some thoughts on the Amish.

There are social problems that arise in many religions and in many cultures. Many cultures practice shunning when sins against their faith have been committed or as a particular verse of the bible refers to as "the unequal yoke". (I cant remember which verse it is and I don't have a bible to reference it. Tales like this are as old as religion itself!
