How do you insert a profile photo?

You'll think me really stupid for asking this question, but I really don't know how to do it. I mean how do you insert your profile photo or avatar. I can upload photos but not a profile photo through which you are known the same way as your user name. Would appreciate someones help.

Hi suesan,
All above answer is correct. But if you still can't do it try different picture. Some picture file might not used here. Try the gif or jpg file. A few of us here face the same problem before but once they change the file they have their avatar.

this is no stupid question suesan... i did wonder about it myself when i joined the site
... well you can upload your avatar/photo ... at the top you will find preferences.... go to it and browse for your photo and it is all done, you can also give a small header for your profile there, you are able to upload your photos for your profile from your profile itself so you are confused i guess... have a nice day suesan!
