Do you find that when watching a horror movie, it is the music in the background that is building the tension of suspense, rather than what is occurring in the actual movie? Do you think that if the music was removed from the movie, and it was only the voices and sounds (such as those created from walking, etc.) from the actors in the movie, it would have the same effect on you? Discuss.

It adds flavour to the horror movie and make it more effecting in scaring people. It has more worse effect on the people who are getting scared. And since these programs or films are made in sense of frightening people then its a wise step and sounds are perfect.

The effect definitely wouldn't be the same. I've actually tried watching a horror movie on mute and it was not scary at all! I think if there is dialogue and sounds it would be scarier, but still not as scary without the background music!
