I applied for it so long ago I can't tell you when it was.I was told that it was a long waiting list. So I was surprised to get it today through FedEx. I thought maybe I didn't qualify or something.Has anyone else here use the scanner before?

I belonged to the Nielson Homescanner program last year. I only did it for a little over six months because it was very tedious for me. I transmitted my groceries and other shopping items once a week and it took a long time to scan most of the items in because most of the time the scanner wouldn't pick up the UPC code and I had to manually enter the numbers into the scanner. The produce didn't have barcodes or anything on them to scan so at first I couldn't scan any of those but later Nielson did send me a Reference Card with generic barcodes to scan for meats, fruits and fresh veggies that didn't have codes on them, so that helped. Also, most of the gifts that you could redeem your points for, I either already had the product or nothing interested me. And it takes a lot of points (i think around 8,000 points) just to get a small Buxton Credit Card Holder (that I probably could have picked up at Wal-mart for a couple bucks)! I only received 150 points per transmission so you can imagine how long it would take to accumulate enough points for bigger items. They did do a couple of Promotions around Thanksgiving and Christmas where I received double points but that wasn't much help for me either. I also received a few free gifts from them like a book light and a jar/bottle opener. Woo Hoo!!!! Anyway, sorry but I did not have an enjoyable experience doing the Nielsen Homescanner. Make sure you keep the original box that it came in because you will need it to ship it back to them when you tire of it!
