Does anyone else out there hate their family?

I don't hate my family. They are kind to me.

No, I don't hate family. I like seeing them and sharing a meal together. Sometimes it gets tense due to some sensitive issues but generally, it's bearable.

It's not really that I HATE them - they're just so judgmental and critical that is miserable to be around them. They make me feel so self-concious - they can be so competitive and/or jealous. As for the holidays, reunions, etc - just go with a guest - then you at least have someone there that you enjoy. But, much as I hate to say it, don't stop being around them - when it comes down to it, they will come through and be there for you when you least expect it. Besides, if it weren't for them, you wouldn't be who you are today!
