Would you sell your personal life?

This might be a controversial topic. But nevertheless I thought of starting it. I have been watching many shows where the contestants are paid money for sharing their personal and intimate lives with the audience. The deeper they go the higher they earn. The show creators corroborate their narration through some unknown means. But what I was wondering is that its one of the simplest contests on the TV these days. All you need to know is about yourself and be bold enough to say it openly or rather accept it openly in front of the audience. I have seen people winning a lot of money in just a matter of hours and ending up losing their personal space. I have always wondered what they feel about it after the show. Would it be a good experience or a bad experience? Would they regret it or would they be happy that they have earned a lot of money? What do you think myLot'ers...Is your personal life up for sale?

Hi rksbigblue, I don't think this topic as a controversy instead a good topic to discuss. I'll never look for money by giving all my personal life details. My personal details are much more precious than money, what ever the amount may be.! I feel pity on those people who make money from that. I would say better TV shows avoid this kind of shows. Because innocent people just look for money and not the after effects.

Yeah its one side of the story, the other side is that it also helps people who are in debts or financial trouble. Nevertheless, the shows must be stopped or there should be an alternative to make money both for channels and for individuals. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

personally, i don't think i would ever do that. i don't want my personal details made known to the public especially for money. people have their own different choices and priorities in living life. that is how they are choosing theirs to be.

Yes I agree with you totally. But in my opinion, this is not good for contestants and their families who face the world with harsh truths. i don't know whether they really want to go public or simply want to earn some quick cash. Either way its the contestants who are losing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
