to find the best way to lower cholesterol you must keep in mind that cholesterol goes up when your blood vessels are too weak. Cholesterol is used by the body to reinforce blood vessels. So to lover cholesterol you have to keep your blood vessels healthy. The easiest way to do that is to have healthy life style, healthy food and exercise. Also control blood pressure, it can contribute to healthy of blood essels (same way as blood vessels can contribute to blood pressure) soem of the ways to lower cholesterol through diet is honney, garlic and some fermented drinks.

butter milk in combination with honey showed to help blood vessels. It's actually recommended for leg cramps because that too can be caused to unhealthy blood vessels. I use other fermented drinks instead though since i'm vegan. I like russian drink kvas, it's made of bread or grains. The one they usually sell now are very bad quality though, it just tastes like kvas, but it wasn't fermented properly. I make it myself instead. I take rye flour, add sugar and distilled water then add brewers yeast to it and let it sit at room temperature for a day. It ferments over day. Then i filter it through cheese cloth to remove flour, add more sugar and transfer into a pitcher or bottle let it sit out for another day and after that it's ready to be used. If you don't drink it the same day, refrigerate or yeast is going to grow out of control and it will loose it's sweet taste. I often add honey and different herbs to it as well, different herbs give it additional health qualities. From what i read coca was used fermented as a medicine as well. kambucha is a fermented drink you can get in a health stores, it's very similar to kvas. I noticed that the days i drink fermented drinks i feel more energized and can go without sleep longer. Kvas is very good at hydrating too

I understand the Atkins diet is the best for reducing cholesterol. But I would not recommend this for long term care. For me fruit and Vegetables are the answer, no sugar and very little animal fat. Nuts and seeds for fat. I also eat nothing white, no rice, noodles, potatoes or sugar. Make sure you have a doctor's advice.
