This is a toughie...I'm currently ending out my last two weeks at my job. I told them that my last day would be this Friday. My new job wanted me to started ASAP but they understood me giving my two week. All was well until I found out that I wouldn't get paid for my last three day in the office. This is because I didn't work a full year at my current job and though the vacation time I took was approved and given to me, I hadn't worked through the year to accumulate the 3 days that I went over. Sooo to make up for this they want me to still come in until Friday but I just won't get paid for them. Now, the new job would gladly take me on now and though I want to do the right thing, I can't choose working three days one place and not getting paid for it over working somewhere else and getting paid for it. I was thinking I'll come in tomorrow (since that is the last day in the pay period I'd receive money) and then not come in the next day and instead start at the new job. What do you guys think?

Is it possible for you to discuss with your new boss to let you serve the final days in your old job?

I am supposed to work until Friday but why would I work at my old job if they told me they aren't going to pay me. I might as well go to the new job.

If I were you, I would not work the "free" days for them. I think working the last day of the current pay period is exactly what I would do also..Believe me, unless its a Mom and Pop type operation. and I don't get the feeling it is, it's not going to kill them..You did the right thing already by giving two weeks notice,,,skip those last couple of days..
