Yes, Lucas and Peyton have left. The actors, Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, from what I understand, could not settle on a contract for this season. On the season premiere the characters were only mentioned a couple times, and while I wasn't able to give the show my full attention, I don't think an actual reason for them leaving town was given. A big surprise for me on the premiere is that Dan is still alive and looks to be around this season.

Yeah i know, there was no good reason told, any idea if they'll be on the 8th season? those two were the reason i actually watched tree hill... yeah i was suprised too and it looks like his mistakes made him famous
