Making Ceramics

Ceramics, I believe, is my favorite of crafts. Not only do I have an excuse to get really dirty but I can make items that are useful in the home. That's true, I know, of any craft. To me, the difference is not only one of necessity but also on display, every day. I love making my own dishes, and serving bowls because I can be as artistic as I want. As for selling, dinnerware comes with its own excuse to spend that extra buck. It also seems to me to be the best selling of all the crafts.

My favorite craft is crocheting. My sister taught me how to do it years ago when I was around nine (I am 54 now). She is gone now but everytime I crochet something, many fond memories of those days rush into my head. Years ago I crocheted constantly and at one point in my life I even crocheted to pay my rent. Most of the time though I just crochet for gift giving. Crocheted items make wonderful gifts and the personal touch gives the gift more meaning I think than store bought items.
