I no longer live there but I miss it. There is so much to see, if you know the back roads. One of my favorite is called Cold Creek and most folks don't know it exists. It takes a little walking and you sure can't see it from the road. I found it to be an opportune photo op. It's a little secret pocket of the world, I'll never forget simply because it's so recluse. Up on the Mogollan ridge, you can find lakes and campgrounds, all within an hour or so from Payson. Payson is one of the most popular get-aways for Phoenix. It's high in the mountain among the pine trees and so much cooler. An hour south, and you're back in the valley and back in the intense heat. Unlike the valley, Payson has true to life seasons, including the snow in the winter. It's a whole other world from that of the Phoenix area.

Sounds like a very nice, quiet and relaxing place. I would love to see it some day. But then, we have many, less known areas like this in the U.S. Actually, there is no need to go outside the country. There is so much to discover here.

That's something, I've often wondered about. What's so boring about the U.S.? There's so much to discover, I don't see how people would have time to visit other countries. It's like living in a town for a year and still not knowing what the tourist do. :)

Hello there Judy, I Lived in mesa/Tempe for 12 years and my dad still lives in mesa. I now live in California, I can't stand Phoenix and surrounding areas. Now Payson is different, it is a nice small town with friendly people. I don't blame you for missing Payson. I take a ride up to Payson whenever I visit my Dad we go to the casino there and sometimes eat at a local restaurant. Where do you live now? Hugs 2 you

We're back in NM now, Albuquerque area. The weather has so changed, here, that it almost doesn't feel like home. Just makes me miss Payson.
