dont you think that the windows xp is the by far the best OS that microsoft has produced? with minimal software incompatibilities unlike the windows vista that was launch not so far back. had to switch to xp from vista since i can not purchase my system without OS or with XP on it because the vendor said that XP is no longer manufactured. oh well, i really think that the windows XP is the best...what do you think?

I'm with you! I just got a new laptop and it has vista! But I'm getting used to it and have had no real problems other than ones I've created my self! LOL! It's running good, but I was so used to XP! tdemex

MS systems are generally good the only thing about them is they tend to be large! They use a lot of space because they try to make everything available to all users! Plus they are invasive, they want to track and control you! Since I just got this I haven't been paying much attention to it! I know trying to get rid of one and replace it with another usually causes some type of problem. So I just deleted everything I think I would never use on vista to get rid of the fluff they add and have it tweaked pretty good it's fast! I use a vonage phone with it and it has to be in top form for the phone to work right! T-----

The best operating system manufactured by microsoft till date is most probably windows seven. it was an os, worth the wait. with an excellent kernel, windows seven is the one of the most stable os ive ever seen. also windows seven comes with direct x 11. a updrage specifically for gamers. apart from that windows seven provides a host of security features. multimedia features is top notch too. the eye candy is really appealing and the user GUI is excellent

Windows 7 is on the way. Because of that Microsft will no longer support XP and provide updates. A big problem with 7 is that you will not be able to directly upgrade XP to Win 7. You will have to either 1.) upgrade to Vista, then upgrade to 7, 2.) do a clean install of 7, which will wipe you hard drive, or 3.) install 7 as a dual boot, which means you would still need to re-install all your other software under 7 to have it recognized.

Yea, you can say that windows XP by far is the best operating system, but don't you think that vista still has some hope?? If you think of it in this way, you'll understand what I mean.. Windows vista was released in 2007, and that's pretty recent to judge an operating system, I've used both operating systems and I can tell the differences and improvements. Windows focuced on the graphics and display without thinking of how heavy it might be on the computers, my sister owns a laptop with windows vista installed on it! You cannot imagine how slow it is becuase her RAM is only 525 MB and the operating system is eating all the RAM!! I'm sure that windows will improve it's vista but it might take a while...

I like dos, so my first vote is for ms-dos. Dos is still installed on my system, although my system is not much older. Dos is very old, so forget it. I am with all of u. After dos i like xp. And will use it for lifetime as one option. After that i like windows 2000sp4. It is really nice to me. I get done all my work on it without any problem. And waiting for windows7. Definitly i use it as my second option, if it is same as microsoft and articles said.

actually the last good operating system MicroSooft put out was DOS with the windows 3.1 shell. It was all down hill from there. You can probably find XP on peer to peer or a torrent site. I'd just switch to a mac though.

I think the most stable OS that microsoft produced after win98 is winXP, until now I'm still using winXP, VIsta is buggy and it eats a lot of resources. Still waiting for windows 7 I've heard a lot of good comments from that OS.

since there was a lot of time between the first release of windows xp and that of vista, microsoft had plenty of time to supplement the xp operating system with patches and updates and whatnot. This is why many people are so fond of xp, it has been debugged a great many of times which provide a reliable OS. Now windows 7 sounds promising, it could even be the next xp....but for now I'll stick to the tried and true, windows xp.
