What do you think of the chances of the Australian Team in the Champions Trophy? The new look team is quite patchy in its performance. It is in the so called Group of Death in the Champions Trophy with Pakistan and India. The last team in the Group is a very poor West Indies team who do not seem to be serious contenders. But both India and Pakistan are strong sides quite capable of beating Australia on their day. Australia on the other hand seem to be short on the batting side though Tim Paine has scored a century today and Mike Hussey has hit a half century, but all that is against a demoralized English side who have already lost the series. The sub-continental giants are sure to prove a handful if they play to their potential. Australia does not have the aura of invincibility any more and the fear that a Hayden or a Gilchrist used to create in the minds of the opposition is a thing of the past Neither is there a wily Warne or a tremendously consistent Mcgrath to help the team. In short, Australia seem but a shadow of their past formidable self. This was only the group stage. If the Team gets through that stage ,it comes up against Sri Lanka or even the mighty South Africans (New Zealand and England are no push overs though on current form ,the other 2 seem to be the favourites), will the Australians be good enough? What do you guys think?
