Alright everyone I know there are a lot of spam things going on out there and people send us emails when they are claiming to be from yahoo...our bank, and other places. I need to know if this is legit even though I really don't think it is. But I need to know for sure because I don't want to lose my email account. This was in my inbox, it was mailed to me with a name and a strange return address, Yahoo! Mail makes staying in touch simple (and fun). Due to the congestion in all Yahoo Users and removal of all unused Yahoo Accounts,Yahoo would be shutting down all unused accounts,You will have to confirm your E-mail by filling out your Login Info below or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons. UserName: Password: Date Of Birth: Country Or Territory: After Following the instructions in the sheet, your account will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Thanks for your attention to this request. We apologize for any inconvenience. There was some more to the email but this is enough of it to find out what you think and if you got one like it. So, did you get an email like this? Do you think it is legit? Thank you for responding.

The ones you think are spam report them as such. That is what I do. But this one I was just not sure of.

ANYTIME a company such as this asks you for your password, i can guarantee you it is a scam. And as a fellow yahoo user as well ( i have had the same account with them for over a decade) i can honestly tell you i have not, nor have i ever received and email such as this.

I have gotten some that I figures were scams and did not respond to them. I just deleted them from my inbox. I've had yahoo for a long time (over 17 years). I have seizers all the time and I forget somethings, not in particular just random things. Thank you for responding

I've had a yahoo mail account for 10 years and have never heard of such a thing! They would have you contact them at a known site for something like this! One with a certificate! tdemex

Td, I have had yahoo for over 17 years. I have received things from what was suppose to be yahoo, but I knew I had paid my account in full. I just dismissed the email as a scam not knowing if it really was or not. The thing is I know yahoo has got a "new email" thing in place. I have not checked into it. This says that to keep my account to do this. I explained it all to pye,(scan up). This one I got today looks a lot like yahoo..it even sayd Yahoo! the way yahoo does things. Thanks for the response.

no site asks you for your password except in the log-in page. this mail was definitely a spam. it is very easy to copy logo and use it. spam is getting very sophisticated now and one needs to be more careful. you did the right thing by forwarding it to yahoo for verification and you will surely get a reply from them.

That is what it said when I log in that I have to use my entire email address, log in and first to add my friends then check out the new site. I do think it's a scam though and sent a copy of the email to yahoo. Welcome to my lot sunny. I'm sure you will enjoy it here.

thanks!..i certainly am having a great time here. in my view, genuine or spam, always safe to avoid until next notice. generally you don't get spammed twice with the same thing..but then you can never say..

I thin they would not cut out mine as I pay yearly for it. They would send me several emails first.

moon, I think you are right to be apprehensive. I never received a letter and I think it is a scam. Why would they need your DOB? With Ebay I get a lot of scam letters and I just forward them to spoof@ebay.com. Maybe you can do the same with Yahoo. Or Just go to Yahoo.com. I hate all these scams. Like life isn't tough enough? yes, Leenie I know what you mean. It's just gone too far when everyone under the sun will try antics like this to get peoples information and scam them. They need to find a real job and be honest people. lol

I finally figured that out Tamara. At first I did not really know and I had to ask if anyone else with yahoo had gotten this letter. It looks so real. I read it several times through the day and the more I read it the more I noticed this or that. Things just did not add up, what they were wanting me to do and the First things they wanted em to do. I reported it and sent a copy of the entire email to yahoo. I hope they put a stop to this person scamming people.

I usually do too, but this one seemed so legit. But the more I looked at it, which I did many times throughout the day...it became less and less legit. Welcome to my lot, I'm sure that you will like it here.

Hi Moondancer, I do not have a Yahoo Email account. I only have Hotmail email account. I don't believe Yahoo will send out such emails to the account holders. It must be a SPAM. Better just ignored this email and report the case to Yahoo Admins for them to clarify on this issue. I have received alot of junks emails to confirm my details and so on, some are even from the banks. I never bother such an emails and just deleted them away.

no i didn't get this email. I'm sure this is 100% a scam and a bad one at that yahoo will never ask for your info especially not in this type of format. they would probably place it in a more secure place for you to enter your info.

I think they will usually say something to the effect that its secure info... come to think of it. I reported the email and hope this person is stoppe din their tracks. Welcome to my lot. I hope you like it here.

Don't trip, it's a total fake. Think about it, they know your username and they know your password, there is NO reason to ask for it via e-mail. Even if the scenario was real, they'd just make you do a verification reply e-mail, not ask you for your password. Delete and move on, ok?

Hello razzberry, welcome to my lot. I hope you like it here as much as I do. I think you will, most people do. I know, it's just this is the closest one I've seen that could have come from yahoo. I wrote to yahoo sending it to them as a problem. I hope they can put a stop to at least this person from sending these things out to people.
