Is credit card necessary to open a paypal account?

My friend wants to create a paypal account but she doesn't have a credit card. Is it possible to have one even without it? Will she be able to receive money or get payment even unverified? What about the credit card portion, how will she answer it?

It is possible. I believe that you are from the Philippines. What she needs to do is to go to unionbank then she have to get a card called debit card. She might want to get an e on card there. It is worth 350php annually, or she can open a debit card for 10000php. Well, I would prefer the e on. Then she should deposit an initial amount for like 200php in order to use it to verify on paypal. Paypal will deduct some amount. So don't be shock if you lost some amount on your debit card. Debit card is like an ATM card, but debit card can be used for shopping like a credit card. The only difference is that what you will have in your debit card is your actual savings and you are not borrowing money from the bank like credit card. Have a nice day. Lovelyn, I am using a debit card from Public Bank at my place. Yes, I think Paypal is still charging the same amount of $1.95, which is refundable to get the four digits Expanded Use Number. I was charged the same amount about two to three years ago.

I have heard that they will charge 90php. To be safe just deposit 200php on your account. Happy mylotting. If I were you, you just verify your paypal when you are near the cashout. Because it has and expiry and then it will just be waste paying the 350php for the card. Have a nice day.

She will absolutely also go for EON card as well. P10,000.00 is a bit high to maintain. Do you know how much paypal charge in verifying the EON card? As I know with credit card they charge $1.95 but they send back that amount to your paypal after giving them the code indicated in the statement bill. But the refund will be credited to paypal account. Do you know if it is the same EON?

Hey friend i wish to get more information about the union bank. That is, is it a bank which is avialable world wide. I stay in india is the bank has its office here if so kindly let me know. As even i want to take an eon credit card as i am finding it very difficult to trade in sites without the credit card.

No it is not necessary to have a credit card to open a paypal account yea .but it is always good to get verified.

You can now get a credit card through paypal ,I noticed.Its not hard to verify either. Tell her to check around the site ,If you don't have a card you can feed your account through your bank card or such. Many ways !!

You can open an account with paypal even if you haven’t a credit card and of course you can receive money too. If you want to verify the account then you need a credit card or debit card. They are charging $ 1.89 for the verification and when it is over they will return the money through our paypal account. First you have to pay this amount either through credit card or debit card.

Thank you! She already signed up for paypal account without credit card. She proceeded and skipped that credit card information thing. She will probably apply for an EON card to have her paypal verified. She said soon, when she already expecting payment from her online sidelines.

You can there are other alternative besides credit card.Just use a debit card or a Virtual Credit card. Some sites requires you to have verified Paypal account and some does not so it depends on the site. In Philippines you can use Union Bank EON card I think it is only 350Pesos to get one.

Yes I heard about that EON card before of unionbank. We are considering it. One of Mylot members also mentioned that before. But we thought we can use that only when transferring the fund from paypal. Thank you.

No friend to open an paypal account there is no need to get a credit card. The use of credit card is to verify your paypal account. This is mainly because many of the sites which you wish to join notice whether you have your paypal verified or not. Even if you wish to purchase any thing online then there is a need to verify your paypal account.
