Hi Lotters! Now that fall has arrived, do you find yourself craving warm, savory soups? I DO!!! I judge restaurants by how well the soup is made, to often I find it is almost always strait out of an industrial size can. Soup is one of the easiest meals to prepare, why would they cheat and use canned (read: high salt and fat content)? What soups do you choose, and is it weather related, seasonal, or simply personal choice? Anyone who has a great recipe to share may do so. Soups On!

We make stoup. Our soup is so full of veggies and meat and things that it is more like a stew than a soup -- hence stoup. I make an awesome chicken soup. My husband does an incredible turkey soup. We are going to be making some veggie soup next week and a corn chowder. WE have 3 crock pots and usually fill them up over the winter weekends. We freeze a meal from each. Then eat the rest. In a couple of weeks we have a lot of food frozen and a good variety in the freezer -- ready to go, very cheap for groceries that week and even less work.

Thats the best, when you have a freezer to store up on good home cooked meals, for those times when you just don't have time. Do you garden your own veggies? Will fish soups last 6 weeks in the freezer (before tasting funny or the texture gets mushy)?

I like soup year round to, but for some reason, so many Mom & Pop places don't make it during the summer! Oh split pea is one of my favorites! send me some? I make: - veggie soup (beef and chicken based, or sometimes just veggie stock) - Matzo ball soup - borscht for my brother, because I don't like beets - Italian wedding soup - yellow squash - pumpkin - Gazpacho - 7 bean soup, pork base - Potato soup (sometimes with leek, sometimes not!) - Shrimp/lobster bisques - Beef stew - Chicken stew -chicken and dumplings (bisquick, not flour!)

Have you ever made soup bowls out of bread? you just cut open the top, make a pocket inside the loaf (remove some or press it to sides if moist enough) and ladle your super home made soup right inside! so Yummy! and a quick clean up to boot! Enjoy!

This is a nice spicy low fat soup... Minestone soup-3 cans onion-1 stewed tomato-1can Rotel-1 can chili beans-1 can ground beef-half a LB Brown your ground beef, add onion. In a pot, mix soups, tomato, rotel, chili beans, add in ground beef mixture and simmer. This is quick and easy..you can even add to it if you like. Even better with some warm cornbread muffins.
