Ok so my husband and I have been thinking about getting boost mobile. It's a somewhat new service that offers unlimited everything for $50 a month with no contract, no credit check etc.. it's basically a prepaid phone but instead of a certain amount of minutes you get unlimited minutes, text, internet etc. Now I've done some research and I am finding some people love the service, they say it's great and they have no problems, yet others say it is slow, they lose signal often, the internet sucks etc.. We most likely won't be texting much or using the internet on it so I'm not too worried about that aspect although it would be nice to know it does work good if we for some reason should need to use it. The disadvantage I have seen is that the cost of the cell phone is high and most users reviews I have read say they have used most of boost mobile's phones and only had good results with the most expensive one which is close to $300! If you have boost mobile or know someone that does please tell me what your experiences are to help us in our decision.

I'm sure a lot of people are aware of this already but boost mobile is pretty much pre-paid version of Nextel, well, when nextel was around... Now they've merged with Sprint, I think boost mobile is trying to go out on their own... That's why you'll see boost mobile pushing even "unlimited" plans... When I used to have Nextel, service wasn't too bad... It could've been better, but not as bad as many people said it was... It also heavily depends on where you live... Make sure you check out the coverage before getting it... You can go to Sprint's web-site & it'll give you nextel coverage as well... You can base it on that because Nextel & boost mobile have same exact coverage area... If it looks good, then get it... You may not even need a landline phone if the boost works in your area since they give you unlimited talk time... I have a same plan except through tmobile... Pricing is slightly different but same basic idea...

Oh I didn't realize boost and nextel are so similar. I know several people that enjoyed their nextel, but others said they always had problems hearing each other etc.. I will definitely look at the coverage map that's a great idea. Thanks for the info

Check Radio Shack I got a boost there a couple years ago It's ok! I just use it as a phone no text I don't use the boost feature, that's the walkie Talkie part it's why it's so popular! I just buy the minutes! As far as reception goes it good in my area! It's mostly geared for younger people but I'm older and don't use those features either. Hope this helps ya! I'd give it a 8.5 out of ten! tdemex

Awesome mex thanks for the input. Yeah I don't really talk to many people so it would just be used for calls between hubby, myself our boss etc.. but we're planning on trying to get more clients for the yard maintenance business and as it is we go through our net10 minutes quite fast. We spend about $40 a month and that gives us 400 minutes so I figure we might as well pay $10 more and go unlimited. Yeah the walkie talkie is quite popular isn't it? I don't think we'll be using that though unless down the road we decide to add another phone but for now it'll just be calls. Thanks again amigo and I hope you're having a great weekend.

I hear it is a good phone from many people. But from others I hear them say "it's the FED phone". Of course, I'm sure you are not doing anything illegal so that wouldn't be a concern. A girl I work with has one and the ringbacks are messed up. I can't really describe it. It plays a song and ring at the same time. That's nuts. But overall, people like it. If you live in the following states you may qualify for a free phone and service. If you do, ask me how. Alabama, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

That's interesting about the ring backs. As long as I can make and receive calls with no problems I don't mind a funky ring back LOL who knows it might even be easier to hear because it will be annoying. Unfortunately I don't live in any of those states but I have family that do so if you want to you can pm me the info?
