POPCAP teams up with Square Enix for Gyromancer

Yesterday the casual games giant, PopCap(Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled) announced that it has teamed up with Square Enix(Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy)to produce a new puzzle-RPG titled Gyromancer. Gyromancer, which is slated to arrive on the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade and on the PC via Steam, will play like Bejeweled Twist with added RPG elements. For comments from the two companies, as well as the Japanese trailer and a list of the game's features, hit the jump. Square Enix CEO John Yamamoto stated:"We've always enjoyed a strong partnership with PopCap Games and Gyromancer represents our goal of developing unique gaming experiences.We believe that Gyromancer will appeal not only to core gamers, but will further introduce the RPG genre to casual gamers as well." PopCap CCO Jason Kapalka said,"Gyromancer is a cool puzzle/RPG hybrid that uses Bejeweled Twist's game mechanic at the heart of its battle system.We've worked with Square Enix as a distribution partner in Japan for several years, and it was fun to collaborate with them in a more creative way on Gyromancer."
