In our local school district, they have completely took out anything they think will turn our children "fat". I went to visit my child in school for her birthday, and like any normal mother I brought cupcakes for her friends. As soon as I walked through that office door to sign myself in, the principal stops me on the dot, and says, "Mam, just what do you think your doing?" Of course, I have no idea what he is referring to, so I just reply "Getting ready to drop some cupcakes to my daughter and her friends." The principal acted like I just brought in a bag of drugs or something. With his very snappy reply "Miss, this is contraband in this school. County-wide policy prohibits you bringing health-risk foods to your kids during school regulated hours, and the most horrible part is that you planned on giving such toxic waste to other peoples children. Now you need to remove the contraband from the school then you can come visit your child." I have never felt so appalled in my life! They act like one cupcake is going to turn my 50 pound child into some enormous monster who will eat everything in her site. I went to the school board and they confirmed that there is a policy that now prohibits me bringing anything in the school that doesn't meet the schools regulations. Which I think is completely ridiculous! Does your school/ child school have the same policy? If so how do you feel about it? If it doesn't how do you feel about this topic?
