I think pasta has more calories and I also think that we tend to eat more pasta in a typical meal than we would eat rice. I adore pasta and could eat it at least 5 nights a week but of course I don't. I have been trying some of the "healthier" kinds, like Barilla Plus and Ronzoni Smart Taste which has added fiber and calcium. I have tried the whole wheat versions but I just can't learn to love those!

I love pasta too and the way I understand pasta does have more calories then rice. Even though I know I should not eat lots of pasta I do. It is a very cheap meal and I love the different noodles you can buy. There are lots of different sauce you can put on the pasta. I used to fix rice but my husband do not like rice and I got tired of eating rice for days. I hate to throw food out it is a big wasste.

Plain pasta without the sauce is more less calories than the rice. Have additional sauce on the pasta is times 3 of the calories of rice.
